Getting Good 'Like This'
2017
“If where we are isn’t good enough, love, healing and God will remain forever out of reach.” - Deepak Chopra
All of our heads are filled with reasons as to why we are not good enough. And by "filled", I mean literally. No one needs any further criticism from anyone as we have all been programmed by society to be most critical of all of ourselves. What we do need is a way to get in touch with our infinite 'goodness' - our Higher Self, God Self and Soul. To remember who we are and why we are here. To realize that each and every one of our lives are worthy and beautiful no matter what size you are, how much money you have or how you got here.
Whether you are on plan B, C or X of your life, here is where you are: now. Life can and only ever and does exist in the now - even when you get “there”, you will be “there” NOW. The present moment is all there is and in it exists in every opportunity, hope, dream and possible version of yourself that you could ever imagine. What is your dream?
Most of us want to be great - the best versions of ourselves and we admire those who "get there", often assuming that they must have something we do not. Nothing could be further from the truth. Nothing could keep us as far away from our dreams as the belief that in order to be great we must be different than who we are now.
Who we are is exactly who any of us "should be" in order to be the greatest version of ourselves but how many of us spend much time - if any - really discovering and learning about who we really are? Most of us are too distracted and we, as a society, wear the cloak of "busy" like a badge of honour, never stopping to consider for just a moment that the very act of keeping stimulated is preventing us from knowing ourselves...
The space, the gap, the awareness around the form we perceive as self, is where stillness speaks volumes..
Everything we want, we want because we believe we will feel better in the having of it. However, what is there to possess in a world of impermanence? A world made up of energy in constant, eternal motion... There is nothing we can hold onto for very long and once we realize this, we may finally be able to let go of the idea of filling our void from the outside in (clogging up our vessel) and instead, allow the light to pour forth from within, shining through our form.
Ram Dass on How to Love Yourself”
“Instead of trying to love yourself, just accept yourself.
Accept your humanity instead of trying to love yourself.
Get behind the polarities of love and hate and simply allow yourself to be as you are and accept it.
Appreciate what is.”
We love because it feels good to love and be loved. We give because it feels good to give to others, but too often we carry a belief underneath the skin, in between the words we say, and in our body language that says, "we are not worthy of the same love and acceptance we bestow on another". We believe and have been taught by many human-created doctrines of obedience that we must "earn" our love, "prove" our worthiness and "ask for permission" to exist freely on Earth. And because human beings are so incredibly powerful and amazing, we will always find ways to push ourselves harder in order to get to "the place" where we feel good, loved and where we feel "at home" again.
We aim "higher" because we believe we will feel better about ourselves when we reach "that place" which society promises will deliver "approval" and therefore "relief" for our weary minds, but when we cannot love ourselves and give to ourselves exactly as we are, when we compare ourselves to others and beat ourselves up for being in our view “less than” another, it does not feel good. Therein lies the rub - by comparing ourselves to others and striving to be "like them", we think we will find a way to love ourselves by looking outside ourselves to another endeavour, but we only go deeper into illusion by externalizing and projecting into "an idea" of who we "think" we "should" be.
Go a little deeper and see that the real cure to that which ails us lies within:
Acceptance. Self-love. Living in the moment. Embracing what is. Surrender.
We are all trying so hard to live life well. Inside our minds we struggle to figure it all out, worrying about the future, often regretting the past, and all the while letting our lives, our happiness and our greatness pass us by. If we do not pay attention and learn how to get present in the now, we will miss the greatest opportunity of our lives - the living of them.
We all need to figure out how to "get good" and accept where we are now before we even think about being great. To know thyself is to heal thyself and - to heal thyself is ultimately to make ourselves whole by loving and accepting ourselves because when we do that, unlimited divine potential is what has to come through you. These are the universal principles of conscious physics and they apply to every one of us...
