Ashwagandha

🌿ASHWAGANDHA ~ a herb used for centuries in traditional Ayurvedic Medicine, this gentle but powerful herb is an adaptogen that is renowned for its many healing powers throughout Eastern & Western forms of natural & holistic healing modalities.

The Sanskrit name translates to “Strength of a Horse”, which is the kind of power & grace every human can admire.

Ashwagandha has a natural affinity for helping the nervous system deal with stress & is well documented for its ability to help heal anxiety with its beautiful, relaxing energy ~ it is grounding, & as it nourishes, it calms the breath & nervous system, perhaps creating the space within for the body to heal.

Though highly potent, it is slow acting so taking it once won’t necessarily reveal its power to you right away. Like all “tonifying herbs”, Ashwagandha gently tones the systems in the body that need strengthening over time. Kind of like lifting weights… you have to go to the gym every day for a while to notice a difference ~ adaptogens & herbal tonics work in a similar way.

Ashwagandha gently builds strength by increasing stamina & endurance. So the effect is one of all day energy, rather than the stimulating rush we get off caffeine; therefore, by promoting balance within, it is known to teach the body longevity, boost libido & creativity… in other words, it is LIFE enhancing on many levels & dimensions.

As an adaptogen, Ashwagandha also helps the body modulate stress, and therefore helps us manage life’s ups & downs with greater ease & grace. As it reduces excess cortisol in the body it helps to heal fatigued adrenals & may help rebalance the endocrine system as a whole. Therefore, when consistently taken, it can be very helpful for helping us fall & stay asleep, and can help re-establish a healthy sleep cycle.

Easy to take throughout the day in the form of a tincture (dilute with water & drink), powder (added to foods/smoothies), or drink as a relaxing, medicinal tea.

🍵🌿My personal current protocol is to have the tincture first thing in the morning, a tsp of powder in my lunch, & a tsp in an evening Golden Mylk w/ honey, turkey tail 🍄, turmeric, cinnamon & cardamom.
